Holiday Club February 17-19th. With a new mountain to be climbed over the 3 days the children from years 1-6 were all keen to discover what was at the summit of each mountain. The first Mountain we climbed was Mount Sinai where we focused on what God had to say on how we should live our lives. The second day we climbed up Mount Camel where God proves his existence and that there is no other God. The third and final day of Holiday club we went up the Mount of Transfiguration where God confirmed that Jesus was the Chosen one who was going to save the world. |
Over the three days there was lots of laughs, fun, noise and excitement where the children could meet with God and bring questions about him to the leaders. As well as a themed play each morning with Britney and Prudence going up each Mountain there was games, crafts, activities, quizzes, and worship. |
The week proved to be a success with new relationships being built and children growing in faith as well as meeting with God for the first time. |

A very successful Welsh Night was held on Friday, February 27th at St John’s Church Hall. St Joseph's Catholic and Anglican High School (Wrexham) provided a wonderful evening’s entertainment, with traditional Welsh pieces played by very talented young musicians, and performances by the school orchestra and choir. |
The evening was attended by 100 people who dined on traditional Welsh cuisine of leek and potato soup, barabrith and Welsh cakes. Many church members worked very hard to put together a St John’s church family event bringing the |

The service was organised by the Salvation Army. The weather was dry but cold and the scenery was magnificent as the sun rose.. Nevertheless it was a wonderful time of worshipping the risen Lord led by the Salvation Army band. Many of those present |

Saturday, April 25th saw a band of intrepid climbers aiming for the summit of Snowdon. The weather was good and the views were fantastic. Two of the group decided discretion was the better part of valour and decided to take the train instead. Our multinational group in included Xav from Zimbabwe and Ken from Thailand. |
When we finally reached the top we were surprised to see how many people were there. Even the actual summit was so crowded it felt like being on a train in the rush hour. The renovated cafe was not yet open but we enjoyed our sandwiches at the top, including the ever-hungry Misty. Jonathan was not consulting the map to verify that we were actually at the top, but rather to identify places like the Great Orme in Llandudno on this wonderfuly clear day. |
On the way down we saw a magnificent rainbow, the first time some of us had ever looked down on one. |

On Friday, May 15th the annual Spud and Sing took place, organised by the Mothers’ Union. While the spuds were cooking Steve and Andrea led everyone in singing well-known ‘oldies’ including I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles, while bubbles were literally filling the air. One of the ovens went on strike but the cooks battled on valiantly and everyone was served. Old and young enjoyed the quiz but with the winners only getting 13 right out of 20 maybe the questions were too hard - or we were not very bright! And then of course there was the inevitable washing up... |
