Worship, Serve and Witness for the Glory of God |

Our aim is to Glorify and Enjoy God through Worship, Witness and Service in the Church of Christ and the Wider World |
St John’s Church, Wrexham |
Values |
The following values, express the ideals to which we aspire and to which we will actively work |
Love |
Whoever loves his brother lives in the light (1 John 2:10) |
Church members will seek to love fellow members, following the example of Christ. We will serve one another, be patient with one another and freely forgive one another. |
Meeting Together |
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another (Hebrews 10:25) |
We will make attendance at Services a priority (where possible on a Sunday), and come prepared to meet with God, contribute to the service and encourage others. We recognize small groups as crucial to the personal growth of believers and to the Church as a whole, and we will also be committed to meeting together in this way. |
Bible |
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim 3:16) |
Recognizing the Bible’s supremacy and sufficiency in matters of faith, we will read, understand, apply and do what God says in His Word. We rely on God’s Spirit to interpret the Scriptures correctly, recognizing the place of the received wisdom of the Church, and human reason and experience in understanding the Spirit’s guiding. |
Prayer |
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and "thanksgiving be made for everyone. (1 Timothy 2:1) |
We will be committed to prayer in our personal and family devotional times, and corporately at Church meetings, Fellowship Group meetings and whenever else we meet as the people of God. |
We recognize prayer as a two way process of speaking and listening to God. |
Kingdom Building |
Jesus said, Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you (John 20:21) |
Every member of the Church will be actively involved in sharing the good news of Jesus in order to facilitate people's conversion to Christ. |
We will seek to demonstrate God’s love for people through practical works of service and kindness. |
Spiritual Growth |
Grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ |
(2 Peter 3:18) |
We expect members of the Church to grow to spiritual maturity in Christ and we will support each other in doing so. We will seek to encourage and train people for leadership within the Church and the wider world, that they might impact the world for Christ. |
As people grow in Christ-likeness and exercise the gifts and talents God has given them, we expect the Church to increasingly reflect the nature of Christ. |
Numerical Growth |
"Come follow me', Jesus said, 'and I will make you fishers of men’ |
(Matthew 4:19) |
We expect the Church to grow numerically as people commit themselves to Christ. We will plan, commit resources and work to make this happen. |
Generosity |
Whoever loses his life for me will save it (Matthew 16:25) |
As a Church we will generously support the work of God locally, nationally and internationally. |
In Wrexham we will help resource the work of the Anglican Parish, CYTUN and Mission Wrexham. In Wales we will support the work of the Diocese and Province, and seek to contribute positively to their life. Internationally we will support the Anglican Communion and wider Church through support of USPG, Tearfund and other missionary and relief organisations. |
Accepting the biblical norm of giving a tithe to God’s work at St John’s and additional freewill offerings, Church members will be generous with their giving of money, time and talents to the work of the Church. |
